To facilitate and deliver life skills to students, to allow them the opportunity to realise their full potential and to allow students access to a range of 21st century skills, that will enable them to contribute to the global society, ESF offers a full and varied selection of extra-curricular clubs.

Every school teacher delivers at least one club a year. This results in the involvement of the whole faculty community when striving to meet our core value of:

To provide a safe, inclusive educational environment where every student feels secure and

valued within the school community. The school aims to provide all students with the tools

needed to thrive upon graduation.

The extra-curricular timetable provides four avenues for the students to take advantage of

  1. Support for students. Clubs are offered such as First Language English/AS Revision to provide additional help to students. The philosophy of these clubs is established from kindergarten, where phonics clubs are offered to give the children extra help with the English Language.
  2. Challenges for the students: Clubs are offered to enable students to apply their strengths to a non-academic aspect of their strong subjects. Students who excel in English for example are encouraged to attend the school newspaper club. Budding scientists are invited to the STEAM club.
  3. Holistic opportunities: Clubs are offered that will allow the students to gain skills and knowledge not delivered through the academic curriculum. Clubs are offered such as; Introduction to Italian; Diorama construction.
  4. Physical well-being and teamwork: Numerous sports clubs will be offered in a wide range of sports. All students will be welcome to participate whatever their ability level in any given sport.

Where possible Upper School clubs will be open to students from Middle School and Middle School clubs will be open to students from Lower School. Two examples of where this can happen is the School Production and the STEAM club.

Parents and students are notified of all clubs running that term during the first week of the relevant term.

The notifications will be followed up with a taster session, again held during the first week of each term. All teachers involved in running clubs for each relevant term will attend the taster session to inform students of content, timings and any requirements for each club.

All clubs will begin running during the second week of each term. If a club does not run due to lack of numbers the relevant teacher will offer an alternate one for the following term.

Students will be notified of clubs and club events, such as chess matches and an Italian film presentation through the teachers and a designated notice board.

Due to the number of sports fixtures that occur during an academic year sports clubs will have their own PE specific notice board with which to keep the students informed.
